Chapter 63

CHAPTER 63

A sense of incongruity.

It referred to an awkward feeling of disharmony.

Like seeing a shark appear in the Han River or a hippo standing in the middle of a desert—unless someone was a child lacking basic knowledge, they couldn’t help but feel that sense of wrongness.

And that same feeling could appear during combat.

Just like now, when Seo-jun instinctively sensed incongruity because the enemy’s attack didn’t match the intention he believed they had.

It started from the very first attack.

The dagger had been thrown normally, but to him, it didn’t feel like White Tiger was actually trying to hit him at all.

The reason was the speed.

In For the Sake of Chivalry, the more internal energy infused into a weapon, the more its damage and speed increased when thrown.

White Tiger’s first attack had been just right.

Not too much, not too little—just enough to look appropriate for an opening attack.

There was something subtly artificial about it, as if it were pretending to be ordinary.

Then the next two daggers looked like they were trying to confuse him as much as possible.

A setup for the next dagger?

But the next dagger flying toward him now was fast, yet its trajectory showed no variation.

Which meant the setup itself became meaningless.

‘If his target was me from the start.’

In that brief instant, Seo-jun organized the situation, reached a conclusion, and identified the destination the sharp dagger blade truly aimed for.

Because White Tiger’s possible targets were limited.

That was 1 second.

The tip of the dagger slightly shifted direction.

If Seo-jun had ignored the feeling of incongruity, he would’ve panicked here and failed to respond.

His hand had already begun pouring internal energy into his sword long ago.

‘The target is the cargo.’

His teammates fighting nearby weren’t the target.

If White Tiger had gone so far as to stream-snipe him, then he must’ve already grasped Seo-jun’s skill level.

There was no way he believed killing teammates would win the game.

Surely he wasn’t that stupid.

Nor was the target some random NPC.

Targeting NPCs was even more meaningless than targeting teammates.

Which meant only one possible target remained.

The wagon behind Seo-jun to his right—

And the cargo inside it.

‘This might be cutting it close.’

Seo-jun calculated the dagger’s speed as he prepared to throw his sword.

Since White Tiger’s traits and weapon build specialized in throwing, the attack would naturally be stronger—

But because the dagger’s trajectory bent at nearly a ninety-degree angle, some of that force would be offset.

That was 2 seconds.

But he still had to wait.

If he threw now, his sword and the dagger would collide with similar force, and his sword might fail to fully deflect it, potentially damaging the cargo anyway.

3 seconds.

Because more time had passed, he adjusted the interception point closer to the cargo itself.

Dangerously close, but—

‘Now?’

Seo-jun judged that enough internal energy had been infused and hurled the sword with all his strength.

The dagger, which had been flying toward Seo-jun, completely changed direction—

And Seo-jun’s spinning sword flew sideways through the air.

-It bends that much?

-If it loops back toward the streamer from there, then the physics engine’s officially dead lol

-2oョ

-Why did White Tiger even go Tang Clan? He sucks lololol

-????

-Anyone can tell that throw missed though?

-But why’s the streamer throwing his sword?

-Unarmed combat possible crit.

-No way?

-LMAOOOO why is that dagger bending like that? Does it normally curve that hard?

-If it loops back toward the streamer from there, then the physics engine’s officially dead lol

-????

-Anyone can tell that throw missed though?

-But why’s the streamer throwing his sword?

-Unarmed combat possible crit.

-No way?

Seo-jun smiled leisurely and gestured toward White Tiger with his eyes.

The moment the sword had left his fingertips, the result could no longer be changed.

And besides—

He trusted himself.

Screeeeech!

The dagger, having locked onto its direction, shot forward fiercely.

Only then did the viewers realize that where the dagger was headed was very, very bad.

-Isn’t that where the cargo is?!

-So it wasn’t a missed throw?!

-Then the streamer’s move was?!

A little farther, and it would obviously pierce the box and destroy the contents inside.

But then—

Spin.

The sword rotating through midair suddenly cut in front of it.

-???

-Isn’t that where the cargo is?!

Tang!

The dagger collided with it and ricocheted away.

He succeeded.

-Holy shit!!!!

-Daaaamn!

-No, how far ahead are you seeing?!

-Is this the Heavenly Demon Beam?

-He predicted that? He blocked that?!

-This is why we watch lololol

-No seriously, what even is this?!

-The streamer said he’d reach Rank 1, right? The streamer said he’d reach Rank 1, right? The streamer said he’d reach Rank 1, right?

-Let’s get the Demonic Cult the championship! Let’s get the Demonic Cult the championship! Let’s get the Demonic Cult the championship!

-That’s a bit much ;;;

“Crazy....”

White Tiger looked utterly fed up, while Seo-jun immediately procured (stole) a weapon from a nearby NPC before turning back.

“You really thought that’d work?”

“Well....”

For a moment, White Tiger wondered who wouldn’t have thought it would work.

But he couldn’t continue speaking.

“You probably learned the cargo’s location through a friend. Since you can’t watch the stream in-game.”

Seo-jun had already figured everything out.

For a brief instant, White Tiger even wondered if his friend had betrayed him and tipped Seo-jun off beforehand.

Seo-jun approached.

The distance closed.

Under the suffocating pressure, White Tiger snapped back to his senses and, in a final desperate attempt, hurled another dagger toward the cargo.

Clang.

But the dagger couldn’t even travel one meter before Seo-jun—already close enough—blocked it with the newly drawn sword.

The dagger dropped weakly onto the ground.

His attack had become meaningless, and the Heavenly Demon villain smiled while flicking his sword as if telling him to try harder.

Fuck.

White Tiger felt like he was about to develop PTSD.

This match still wasn’t over.

Even if he died now, there would be another chance next round.

He could cooperate with teammates.

He could hide and target the cargo later.

But no matter what method he used, White Tiger felt like he could never break through Seo-jun.

How the hell was it possible to knock down a dagger thrown right in front of him?!

“Hey.... how did you know?”

Having already sensed defeat long ago, he asked the one thing he desperately wanted to know.

“Know what?”

“That I was aiming for the cargo. Did you know beforehand?”

Otherwise, blocking a dagger that changed direction midway made no sense.

Not unless he’d prepared for it in advance.

He genuinely wanted to know.

That was why he asked.

“I am the Heavenly Demon.”

“You son of a bi—”

-How could he possibly know lol

[WhiteTiger7 Defeated]

“We should clean up the rest too, right?”

After defeating WhiteTiger7, Seo-jun headed over to help where the battle was still ongoing.

-Now that the streamer’s paying extra attention, how are they supposed to win?

-He still won even after knowing what the cargo was!

-This really is villain behavior lololololol

-Do they even realize the game almost ended just now?

-There’s no way they do.

Hello, this is Arkmaster, someone who wants to be good at Battlefield mode but is tragically lacking in skill.

Do you all happen to know the newbie butcher, beginner slaughterer, White Tiger?

White Tiger was a player who refused to leave the beginner zone and farmed newbies. I’m sure many veteran brothers of For the Sake of Chivalry know him.

After all, he’s been around since the game’s launch, and he once publicly sparred against the self-proclaimed righteous hero and ranked player “NamgungClanInnkeeper,” winning by the narrowest margin.

After NamgungClanInnkeeper’s defeat, White Tiger’s fame only grew further—

Yet he continued farming newbies.

Even so, because new players didn’t stay in the beginner zone for too long, and because White Tiger himself didn’t play very often, the game company had never taken action against him.

Which, considering how many new players either lost interest in the game or nearly did after meeting him, was absolutely the wrong decision.

But one week ago, this player finally received the sentence of account deletion.

And all because he messed with a streamer who happened to be promoting For the Sake of Chivalry.

(Clip)

This streamer overwhelmingly crushed White Tiger with pure skill—

(Clip) (Clip) (Clip)

Introduced himself three times as the Heavenly Demon—

(Clip)

And even ascended to the level of reading donations that never existed.

(Clip)

To top it all off, he even pressured the developers directly.

(Clip)

In the end, White Tiger ascended to the heavens like this, while streamer Seo-jun demonstrated the true dignity of the Heavenly Demon.

You may be wondering why I’m bringing up old events instead of current Battlefield matches.

Please don’t be upset.

Their connection didn’t end there—

And today, fate finally reunited them.

(Clip)

Today, Seo-jun selected the Unorthodox Faction region and encountered a player named WhiteTiger7.

Yes. As you guessed, it’s that White Tiger.

Between the identical avatar face and the nickname, it was obvious.

And his very first line after meeting him was:

“You missed me, didn’t you, bastard?”

Fortunately, our Seo-jun completely ignored him.

(Clip)

Anyone could tell that White Tiger was stream-sniping out of revenge.

The sheer shamelessness!

At this point, we need to look at this screenshot.

It’s a post made on the Incidents & Accidents Board by a user presumed to be White Tiger on the day he got banned.

(Screenshot)

Though he deleted it afterward, probably because even he realized how shameless it looked—

If you post on the For the Sake of Chivalry forums, you should be prepared to get immortalized forever.

Anyway, this is today’s moment.

White Tiger prepared thoroughly for revenge.

For revenge, he escaped the beginner zone he had stayed trapped in for years in just one day and joined the Tang Clan.

He played Battlefield mode every single day without fail to raise his fame score.

And finally, today—

The mode was Escort.

And Seo-jun, his target for revenge, selected the Unorthodox Faction region.

The perfect opportunity had arrived!

So he formed a plan.

White Tiger would personally encounter Seo-jun through stream-sniping, while an accomplice watched Seo-jun’s stream and relayed the cargo’s location.
(This is speculation. But White Tiger clearly knew where the cargo was.)

Having crafted this perfect plan, White Tiger finally attacked Seo-jun.

The first move: ordinary.

The second move: the same.

The third move: two daggers thrown simultaneously to scatter attention.

And after launching the third attack, White Tiger prepared his final move.

A perfect, final strike—

A dagger pretending to fly toward Seo-jun before changing direction midway and heading straight for the cargo.

It was an extremely powerful move.

Not a single viewer predicted it.

But Seo-jun understood everything.

(Clip)

In this razor-close crisis where disaster could strike in an instant, Seo-jun threw his sword and blocked the dagger.

White Tiger stood there dumbfounded and asked how he had figured it out—

But wasn’t that a meaningless question from the start?

(Clip)

After all—

He is the Heavenly Demon!

(Image)

And after hearing “I am the Heavenly Demon” one final time, I nominate White Tiger’s utterly defeated expression as Today’s Battlefield Moment.

-That re-education was legendary.

-Damn, that was a fun read lololol

-So that’s what happened.

-Seriously, all kinds of crazy stuff happens in this game.

-To package the Heavenly Demon like this... I report you as a traitor to the Orthodox Faction.

-He’s definitely a spy.

-Please correct that to “undercover agent,” not spy.

-I’m the guy who took the WhiteTiger ID, and he’s whispering insults at me. Is this normal?

L Guys, read the post properly lolololol it’s WhiteTiger7.

-The Heavenly Demon’s trash talk lololololol

-Isn’t he that Grandmaster guy? Sorry for suspecting him of cheating before. Turns out he was doing good deeds like this. And his skills are insane.

L Were you part of the 3-Minute Curry Squad?

L I never actually commented though.

-Then you’re not part of the Curry Cult lololol

-But seriously, that bastard’s unbelievably shameless lololol actually stream-sniping like that.

The post Arkmaster uploaded quickly accumulated recommendations and entered the real-time TOP 10 displayed on the right side of the For the Sake of Chivalry homepage.

Normally, Arkmaster’s posts made it into the TOP 10 fairly often—

But never this quickly.

“Oh, the response is great? At this rate, it might even hit number one?”

Arkmaster was a former professional card-game streamer who had built a reputation on sharp analysis and usually worked as a commentator for amateur tournaments.

And in For the Sake of Chivalry, he had created his current most popular content series: For the Battlefield, where he analyzed Battlefield mode and introduced major incidents.

“Hehe, as expected—well, the streamer, I mean Seo-jun’s stories were bound to be popular!”

Even though he was already busy taking notes on every issue happening in Battlefield mode, the reason he watched Seo-jun’s livestreams was simple.

They were just too entertaining.

Ever since he accidentally discovered the rookie streamer playing Dawn of the Assassins, he hadn’t been able to stop watching.

“I should contact Seo-jun and ask if I can use some of these stories in For the Battlefield.”

Community forums were one thing—

But on iTube, you couldn’t just use someone else’s content however you wanted.
